Jane Morrell and Simon Smith founded AIFA. They are independent funeral advisers and conductors trading as green fuse in Devon, and co-authors of We Need To Talk About The Funeral 101 Ways To Commemorate And Celebrate A Life, to be published in October 2006.
Jane Morrell
After practicing as a registered nurse Jane pursued her deep love of nature through a career in horticulture. Her own experience of being stopped from going to her own fathers funeral when she was ten sparked Janes interest in marking lifes passage through ceremony. She trained in Psychosynthesis Psychotherapy in the 1990s, in ritual with Malidoma Some and in celebrancy with Welfare State International in 2003-2004.
Jane founded green fuse in 2000 with a vision to use the beauty and ancient meaning of the flower to bring people into ceremony and ritual at important times of their lives.
Simon Smith
Simon has long held an interest in how people overcome lifes difficulties and find meaning in them. He trained in Psychosynthesis Psychotherapy in the 1990s. He also practices as a coach and counsellor. He became interested in funerals in 1997 when his wife died in her early forties. Having successfully created a funeral which spoke to both her elderly parents and the younger generation of friends, he experienced at first hand the incredible healing power of a good funeral ceremony. He has trained in celebrancy, public speaking and group work. |
